KOFA National Wildlife Refuge
From E/GS NM, we went to Quartzsite and stayed in the KOFA National Wildlife Refuge. The landscape there is typical of the mountain/desert terrain: lots of saguaro and cholla cacti (although there are no cholla in this picture...I was afraid to photograph them for fear they would leap out and grab me), and lots of dry shrubs. Everything has thorns in the desert, even the trees. Shadow got cactus spines all over his nose and inside his mouth, and I had to drug him in order to pull them out. Instead of learning from this mistake, he went out and did it twice more.
